    If your fiscal year starts 9/01/08, then it ends 8/31/09. Is this a homework question?

    EDIT based on additional info:

    If you are a sole prop, your tax year is the same as your personal tax year, in 99.9999% of the cases the calendar year, 12/31/09.

    A fiscal year applies only to a C-Corp.

    Your sole proprietor business uses the same tax year that you do as an individual, which is undoubtedly the calendar year. Thus, your fiscal year (tax year) ends December 31.

    are you fiscal year or calendar year taxpayer? most are calendar year. . .you have to elect to be fiscal year. . . .so your start date is not relevant. . . .consult your accountant ASAP
