Synaptics fiscal 4Q profit jumps but outlook weak

Synaptics Inc., which makes touchscreen technology for computers and smartphones, on Thursday reported stronger fiscal fourth-quarter earnings helped by a one-time gain and higher sales, but shares tumbled in aftermarket trading as the company forecast first-quarter sales below Wall Street expectations.
